Exclusive – Pardew would love Crystal Palace return but not right now, says former Eagles teammate

first_imgFormer Crystal Palace star John Salako has told talkSPORT he can’t see Alan Pardew becoming the club’s new manager – but believes it could happen in the future.Magpies boss Pardew is the firm favourite to take the reins at Selhurst Park, where he spent four years as a player, following the dismissal of Neil Warnock over the festive period. But Salako, who was his teammate with the Eagles, doesn’t believe he will make the change right now considering the size and position of Newcastle, although he feels Pardew may be open to rejoining the club later on in his managerial career.“I can’t believe it,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast when quizzed on the Pardew to Palace rumours. “I don’t really know where that story has come from.“He [Alan Pardew] was linked the last time and I’m sure he was asked – Alan is a south London boy.“Obviously Alan is at Newcastle, a very big club, and doing a great job. He had a rough 2014 but it has picked up.“I can’t believe that he would leave a massive job like Newcastle to come to the Palace job – at the moment.“I think at sometime in his career he would love to come back because I know his family live in the south still and he has to travel between [them and Newcastle].“It’s one of those things, we’d love to have Alan come down and manage Palace but with the financial restrictions and the position of Palace [in the Premier League table] compared to Newcastle, I don’t think that will happen.”last_img read more
