Linda Day, 1976 WHS graduate: March 13, 1958 – March 5, 2014

first_imgLinda DayLinda Day, of Wichita, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Augusta at the age of 55.Linda was born the daughter of Arlis and Vada (Humbert) Day on Thursday, March 13, 1958 in Wellington.She graduated from Wellington High School in 1976 and furthered her education at Wichita State University where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Service. Linda was a social worker for many years having worked for Youthville, Salvation Army and even spent some time in London, England.She was a caring person that helped anyone. Linda helped students as a Para in Valley Center and taught ESOL at the Indo-Chinese Center in Wichita. Outside of work, she loved to travel, cook and bake. Above all else she loved her family and grandkids.Survivors include her three daughters; Angela Basham-Saif and her husband Mohammed, Jennifer Basham and Staci Basham all of Wichita. Other survivors include her father, Arlis Day of Wellington; grandchildren, Destiny Johnson, Adam Saif, Amir Saif, Kimber van Wyk, Jaeden Garcia; two sisters, Laurinda Cox and her husband Ted of Blue Eye, Missouri, Cyndi Mitchell and her husband Richard of Blackwell, Oklahoma along with her niece and nephews, Nic Heimsoth, Brett Bible, Bryana Bible and Brian Bible.She was preceded in death by her mother, Vada Day; grandparents, Howard & Marcelyn Humbert and Cleal & Helen Day and a niece, Michelle Heimsoth.Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Funeral services for Linda will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 in the chapel of Day Funeral Home, Wellington.Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.A memorial has been established in her loving memory with the Indo-Chinese Center in Wichita.
